Day 26 - Draw Down the Moon - A Poster
A mid-century modern-inspired illustration series interpreting Draw Down the Moon by Foxing. Each piece captures a song’s essence with bold minimalism, vintage textures, and layered symbolism—like a beached 737, a figure pulling the moon closer, and a man crashing through floors. Designed using Retro Supply Co. brushes and paper textures for a nostalgic, screen-printed feel.

Days 23-25: Turning Draw Down the Moon into One Epic Poster
Turning my Draw Down the Moon illustrations into one epic poster! Merging each song drawing into a cohesive scene is a challenge, but I’m figuring it out—linework is set, now it’s all about the coloring. I did this before with Daisy by Brand New and plan to offer a limited run of prints soon. Follow my progress on Instagram @drawn_to_noise!

Day 22 - Speak to the Dead (Foxing)
Day 22 – Speak to the Dead from Draw Down the Moon by Foxing. This final illustration captures the transition between life and death, inspired by the lyric "Our essence dissipates all the same." A haunting, surreal piece reflecting themes of the afterlife, communication with the dead, and the fading boundary between worlds. Part of a full series interpreting the album visually.

Day 21 - If I Believed in Love (Foxing)
Inspired by the song If I Believed in Love by Foxing, this animated illustration brings the lyrics to life—literally. A man buries his head in the sand, his neck stretching in surreal fashion, blending mid-century modern aesthetics with 90s cartoon humor. Part of my daily illustration challenge, this piece explores love, solitude, and escapism.

Day 20 - Cold Blooded (foxing)
Day 20 of my daily illustration project is inspired by Cold Blooded by Foxing. This mid-century style piece reflects the lyric "I know I’m a black sheep," capturing the song’s themes of isolation and self-reflection. Follow my journey as I illustrate a song every day!

Day 19 - At Least We Found the FLoor
For Day 19, I illustrated “At Least We Found the Floor” with the lyric, “The bad luck demon that I can’t stop kissing... Well honey, at least you found the floor.” This song captures that sinking feeling when you think you've hit rock bottom, only to find there's further to fall. Even though this piece didn’t turn out as I imagined, it’s still part of the journey. Let me know your thoughts!

Day 18: Bialystok
For Day 18, I illustrated “Bialystok” with the lyric, “I was just thinking about watching television next to you...” This song captures the quiet comfort of simply existing with someone, even in the most ordinary moments. I wanted to reflect that feeling of homesickness, even when you're right next to someone—how absence can make even familiar places feel unfamiliar. Let me know your thoughts!

Day 17: Where the lightning strikes twice
For Day 17, I focused on “Where the Lightning Strikes Twice” with the lyric, “So meet me in the tall grass... I want to go where the lightning strikes twice...” This song was a challenge, but I focused on the shock and fear in the lyrics, using minimal detail. I embraced bold, grainy textures and stark contrast to capture the feeling of standing in a storm. Let me know what you think!

Day 16: Draw Down the Moon
For Day 16, I focused on the lyric, “Want to draw down the moon / For nothing but to deserve you...” from Draw Down the Moon. This piece was a fun challenge as I further embraced the mid-century modern graphic design style. I wanted to illustrate devotion with a surreal image of a figure pulling the moon down, showing love through an impossible act. Let me know your thoughts!

Day 15: Beacons
For Day 15 of my Draw Down the Moon series, today’s piece is inspired by the lyric from “Beacons”: “I was floating there for so long, King of nothing, but the space I take up...” I wanted to capture the feeling of being weightless, yet overwhelmed by everything. This is my take on the song’s emotional depth, using a mid-century modern design. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

Day 14: Go Down There Together
Day 13 of my Draw Down the Moon series. Today's piece is inspired by the lyric from "Go Down There Together": "We’ll go down there together." I wanted to capture the feeling of shared uncertainty, two people committed to facing the unknown side by side. It's about love, struggle, or just life itself. Follow along and share if you’re enjoying these drawings!

Day 13: 737
Day 13: 737—For this piece, I took a mid-century modern approach to capture the reflective tone of Draw Down the Moon. Inspired by the lyrics, “I feel like a 737, painted over and over again, until the paint gets too heavy. Grounded there, no company on my side,” I modeled the 737 after a beached orca whale, symbolizing the weight of exhaustion and being trapped in place. This design reflects the song’s lonely, overwhelmed vibe. I’m diving into each track from the album, so if you followed my Daisy series, I hope you’ll join me for this one!

Day 11: in a jar
Day 11: In a Jar—Inspired by Brand New’s lyric, “Stones in your eyes, stones in your eyes,” this piece features a woman with stones in her eyes, capturing the weight of being trapped while searching for something bigger. The retro tattoo style and her lost expression reflect the song’s mix of entrapment and yearning, making it one of my favorites from the series.

Day 10: Daisy
Day 10: Daisy—Inspired by Brand New’s lyric, “Well if we take all these things and we bury them fast / And we’ll pray that they turn into seeds…” this piece captures the quiet hopefulness of transformation. Hands planting seeds surrounded by daisies symbolize letting go and trusting in growth. A visual metaphor for turning pain into something beautiful, this illustration celebrates resilience and renewal.

Day 9: Bought a Bride
Day 9: Bought a Bride—Inspired by Brand New’s lyric, “If somehow I was new and everything was unsaid / I’d go and buy a hammer, never sing again,” this piece features a hammer symbolizing rejection and disillusionment. Reflecting the tension between creativity and simplicity, it explores the burden of artistic choice and the yearning for escape. A raw, powerful visual that aligns with the song’s themes of dissatisfaction and societal expectations. #BrandNew #Daisy #Illustration

Day 8: Sink
Day 8: Sink—Inspired by Brand New’s lyric, “I don’t want to let you go, but it hurts my hands to hold the rope,” this piece depicts a bloodied hand gripping a frayed rope, symbolizing the pain of holding on to something that causes harm. Designed with a muted, vintage palette and bold red accents, this series brings Daisy's raw emotion to life.

Day 7: Be Gone
Day 7: Be Gone—Inspired by Brand New’s lyric, “They’re calling my name,” this piece depicts a skeletal hand gripping a vintage phone, with distorted text emerging like static. Capturing the song’s eerie, fragmented tone, the design blends vintage tattoo aesthetics with a risograph-inspired texture, bringing Daisy's haunting themes to life.

Day 6: You Stole
Day 6: You Stole—Inspired by Brand New’s lyric, “So if I’m a liar and you’re a thief…” this piece features a fox and a crow, embodying deception and betrayal. Their dynamic captures the song’s raw intensity. Designed in a vintage tattoo and risograph style, this series transforms Daisy's emotions into bold, nostalgic visuals.

Day 5: Gasoline
Day 5: Gasoline—Inspired by Brand New’s lyric, “It feels like I’m trying to hold smoke,” this piece captures the frustration of grasping at something slipping away. A hand clutching smoke symbolizes that fleeting struggle. Designed with a vintage tattoo and risograph aesthetic, this series brings Daisy's raw emotions to life through bold, nostalgic visuals.
