Day 42 -Everything I Own

Day 42 -Everything I Own by The Front Bottoms Project

Some songs don’t just tell a story; they ask a question that sticks with you. Everything I Own by The Front Bottoms has one of those lines that lingers long after the song ends:

"Who's gonna push my wheelchair around when I get sick?"

It’s a moment of vulnerability, wrapped in self-awareness and the quiet fear of being alone. That lyric is what guided my illustration for this piece—an old wheelchair, empty, yet full of meaning. I wanted the image to capture that feeling of uncertainty, of trying to appreciate what you have while you have it, even when the future is unclear.

For this piece, I used retro risograph-style brushes and textures from Retro Supply Company. The rough, grainy look felt right for a song that wrestles with regret, self-reflection, and the fleeting nature of relationships.

And with this, I’ve completed Talon of the Hawk. 42 days, 13 illustrations—each one exploring the emotions and stories behind the songs that have meant so much to so many people. This project has been a deep dive into the heart of an album that blends humor, sadness, and raw honesty in a way only The Front Bottoms can.
