Day 2: Vices

Day 2: Vices

Wow, after seeing the clips from last nights show I’m even more excited to do this daily drawing.

Today’s piece is inspired by the lyric “Where’s all my hope and my marriage license?” from the song Vices, by the band Brand New. This line struck me as haunting and raw, capturing the burning away of ideals and the collapse of something once thought to be unshakable.

The burning marriage license symbolizes more than the end of a relationship—it’s a reflection of lost innocence, broken promises, and the weight of realizing that some things can’t be rewound or repaired. The roses represent beauty intertwined with pain, a reminder that even in moments of destruction, something tender and meaningful once existed.
