Day 34 - Peach (the Front bottoms)

A digital illustration of a peach with a deep cut, bleeding onto a textured blue background. The fruit's skin is warm orange with a rough, ink-like outline, and green leaves sprout from its stem.

Day 34 – Peach by The Front Bottoms

For today’s piece in my daily illustration project, I chose Peach by The Front Bottoms. This is another entry in my series inspired by the album Talon of the Hawk. The band’s ability to mix bittersweet lyrics with raw emotion has always resonated with me, and this track was no exception.

The lyrics that stood out most:

"Once I sink my teeth, your skin's not so tough
I'll leave a tiny cut, there'll be a lot of blood..."

I wanted to visually explore this idea—the contrast between something soft and inviting (a peach) and the unexpected consequence of biting into it. The image captures both the fruit’s natural sweetness and the inevitable sting of reality.

Process & Tools

I created this illustration in Adobe Fresco, experimenting with:

  • RetroSupply Co.’s Inferno brushes for gritty, ink-like strokes

  • Risograph textures to add a vintage, printed aesthetic

  • A muted blue background to contrast the peach’s warmth and make the bleeding cut more impactful

The result is a balance between tattoo-style line work and distressed print textures, reinforcing the raw, imperfect beauty of the song.

Final Thoughts

This project has been a fun challenge—visually interpreting songs while experimenting with new techniques. If you’ve been following along, thanks for the support! I’d love to hear your thoughts on this piece. What lyrics from Talon of the Hawk would you want to see illustrated?
